Small-Indoor-Garden-home

A home is the best place for us on earth. We do our best to get the home that we dreamt of. However, some of us can’t build or buy the home as per our dreams due to lack of spaces, greenery, and allied reasons. Yeah, the lack of spaces in towns or cities works as a barrier for you and stops you from getting an abode with a lot of greenery. You can fulfill your dream of having greenery in your home with indoor plants. Here are some steps on how you can create an indoor garden in your abode:

  1. Decide the place for an indoor garden

Whether you have a big or small home, you can’t convert it completely into a garden. You need to decide whether home corners, balconies, or walls are the right place for indoor plants. Suppose that you have no personal balconies. In this case, you have to choose home corners or walls for creating an indoor garden.

  1. Select the right pots and accessories

Earthen/ceramic/plastic pots are essential for you whether you want to place indoor plants in home corners, balcony, or on walls. In the selection of the right pots, you need to keep lifespan, design, and structure in your mind. Further, you will have to shop hanging planters from your local market or an online store such as WallMantra if you decide to convert your home wall into a small indoor garden. Everything such as pots and planters with strong ropes should be of optimum quality and in accordance with your home color.

  1. Choose the right plants

Inside your home, you can’t opt for planting a tree or big plant. Further, you wouldn’t love to plant the plants that could make your daily life difficult. You should opt for small to mid plants that can clean your indoor air and grow well with little care. For a better collection, you can search for the best indoor plants on search engines. In your search, you can come across plants like Pothos, Spider, Peace Lily, and Aloe Vera. In the final selection, keep in mind what suits you best.

  1. Prepare your potting medium

After the selection of the right place, pots & accessories, and plants, you can move forward to the preparation of the plantation. The soil or potting medium you will choose must have a balance of all the organic matters such as minerals, water, and air. Your home-generated compost will be better for your plantation purpose. As far as possible, try to have a good combination of red cocopeat, earth, and compost in the ratio of 1:2:1.

  1. Fill the pot

In the next step, you can fill your selected pots (of earthen, plastic, or ceramic) with the soil, which has the right combination of red earth, compost, and cocopeat. You can fill the pots up to the brim and leave the space around 3-5 cm from the top. This left space will be used for watering the plants.

  1. Do the plantation

Now, you can place your selected indoor plants in the earthen/ceramic/plastic pots filled with soil. In planting, you have to press the plantation medium around the base of the plant and water the pot until you notice water getting out of the pot.

  1. Place or hang the potted plants

After the completion of plantation work, you can bring the potted plants inside your home and keep them at the decided place such as a balcony, stairs, corners, etc. If your decided place is your home wall, you have to install hanging wooden planters on the determined wall area. Place the potted plants on the installed planters.

  1. Water regularly

The potted plants have no direct connection to the earth. They live on the pot soil and water. To make them maintain their life, you have to water the potted plants at least once a week. Water them daily in summer.

  1. Fertilize

Like human beings, potted indoor plants need nutrients to grow well. The pot soil and water are not enough for them, as they lack a direct connection to the natural earth. You can use homegrown compost to fertilize your indoor plants. For this, you can replace the upper layer of soil with the home-generated compost.

Conclusion

Creating a small indoor garden is simple to carry out. You can do it well by selecting the right place, pots & accessories, and plants. Further, you need to water and fertilize the plants after planting and placing them in the right place.
